Love Heart Ginger Bread

I know l have posted about these before, but l don't think l have given them enough credit. I have made many many batches since posting about these, and every time l make them they seem to disappear within hours. They are delicious, light and the perfect pick me up.

I had Coopers orientation day at School this morning which included a morning tea afterwards. So me being me took some of these biscuits along!

I didn't have enough time to decorate them with Royal Icing or the patience with two little boys helping me so l decided to use fondant. I love how they turned out, everyone at the school raved about them and one lady even asked if l could make them as Wedding Favors for her Wedding.

I have just bought some more cookie cutters, so stay tuned for some more designs.

Just thought l would mention that the Choc Mint Mud Cake, was delicious and the Chocolate Ganache took it to a new level!.

I would love to hear you feedback so please feel free to leave me a message.

Enjoy!

Choc Mint Sensation....

This cake was made for my friend, I had free reign of the design and taste of the cake. So l decided to try a Choc Mint Cake, I have wanted to make one for quite some time now l can't wait to see how it tastes. I was unsure of what design to use for her cake, nothing was jumping out at me! You could even say l had designers block, if there is such a thing.

I used the Planet Cake Mud Cake and just added 2 tablespoons of Creme de menthe.
In the end l decided to go for a brown and aqua blue colour theme, I think it worked together really well.

I made all the flowers with my littler circle cutter, it took a little bit of time but was well worth it.

The party is tonight so l shall let you know you know how it tastes!

Enjoy!

Baby Rose

Well I have some exciting news, my dear friend had a lovely baby girl early this morning! She is just beautiful, they have named her Rose. My friend suffered from Diabetes whilst pregnant, so she made me promise to bring something sweet in when I visited. So when l heard the news of Rose's delivery l went straight to kitchen because if l had turned up at the hospital with nothing l think she would of thrown me out.

I made her this adorable 3" Square Cake, decorated with pink roses. She was so thankful when we arrived, but she made me promise not to upload a photo of her with the cake as in her words "was feeling not very photogenic"

The cake was a bit of a rush job, would of loved to spend some more time on it. But l was way too excited to see Baby Rose oh and of course Mum too!

Some other exciting news, I have enrolled myself into a Planet Cake Course. I can't wait.

Take Care

Chocolate Jaffa Mud Cake Take 2

It's seems to be that in the last couple of weeks l have only baked big cakes (not that l mind), I think tomorrow l might try and bake some yummy lemon cupcakes for my poor husband who seems to think that l bake for everyone else and not him!

This cake was made for my best friend Jane's 30th, unfortunately l was soooo sick that l couldn't make it to her dinner. l was devastated, but luckily l had made the cake before l was on my death bed!

This is another version of the Chocolate Jaffa Mud Cake, the recipe can be found here. I decorated the cake with hand piped butterflies, chocolate panels and strawberries covered in white, milk and dark chocolate.

Jungle Boogie.....

This cake was so much fun to make, I had free reign with the design all the client specified was that they wanted something with animals. I have always wanted to do a jungle themed cake, you would think that with two sons l would of done one.

Everything on the cake has been handmade and is edible.

Present Box Cake

Sorry l've been neglecting my poor little blog, but the Winter Flu or more likley Swine Flu has caught up with me and it has knocked me for six!. So alas l haven't done much baking, but l did manage to make this adorable 4" Present Box Cake for Coopers Teacher's Birthday.

I got the idea for this cake from the Planet Cake Book, it was really quite simple to even for a newbie like me.

I promise to post more once l have returned from my sick bed and actually have something entertaining to say!

Enjoy!

Simple but Elegant

Well l am sad to announce that l had my last class tonight, I can't believe that it has finished!. There is sooo much more that l want to learn, I can't wait to start another one.

Tonight we learnt how to decorate a cake with rough icing using Royal Icing, I thought l would l really enjoy doing this but alas l was getting annoyed that my rough wasn't perfect! But l love the finished product.

I used Ivory and Black as my colour theme, I just love this combination. It's simple but elegant at the same time. If l could go back in time, I would have this for my Wedding Cake.

I would love to here you feedback, so please feel free to leave a comment.

Enjoy!

Up up and away.....

God help me! My husband has the dreaded man flue, he is in bed laughing his head of whilst watching the new episode of Top Gear! The poor thing, he must be feeling terrible ;-).....

Well l have had a busy couple of days, with taking care of the above very sick husband. I also had a order to make some cupcakes for a little boy who was having his birthday at the Plane museum. I decorated the cupcakes with pale blue Butter Icing (to represent the sky) and some really cute little planes which l made with fondant.

I used the Coconut Cake Recipe from the Planet Cake Cook Book

220g softened butter
325g lightly packed brown sugar
1 tsp coconut extract
3 eggs
130g desecated coconut
360g SR flour
360ml butter milk

Preheat oven to 180, Grease tin and line base and sides.

Beat butter, sugar and coconut extract until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beat well after each. Fold in the comined coconut and sifted flour alternating with spoonfuls of buttermilk.

Spoon mixture into tin. For a cake you would bake it for 1hr 10 min until goldern & skewer comes out clean. For the cupcakes l baked them for 25 minutes

Leave in tin for at least 5 minutes then turn out onto wire rack to cool.

Please feel free to leave your comments and suggestions.

Enjoy!
